Goal & what you need
Goal
Prevent unsupported opening balances, hidden netting, mixed date or value meanings, omitted noncash events, unreconciled schedules, confidentiality failures, and staff-made legal or accounting conclusions.
What you need
- Opened Florida probate administration with current letters and lawyer-confirmed accounting assignment
- Approved inventory and amendments, complete estate-account ledger and statements, creditor-claim ledger, asset-sale records, expense and compensation records, tax records, and distribution evidence or documented gaps
- Responsible lawyer and personal representative assigned to control accounting period, classifications, allocations, compensation, tax treatment, service, waivers, objections, distributions, and filing
Check your firm’s process. This lesson teaches a safe general workflow. Your firm’s software, folder names, naming rules, retention steps, and escalation contacts may differ. If you are unsure, stop and ask your supervisor.
