Goal & what you need
Goal
Produce a complete, usable, defensible response package without missed requests, altered originals, unsupported no-document statements, unauthorized legal decisions, privilege failures, or incorrect filing.
What you need
- A verified matter, responsible lawyer, exact served request, service proof, orders, and recipients
- Written lawyer direction on timing, scope, custodians, sources, objections, privilege, ESI form, production, filing, and service
- Current Rules 12.280, 12.281, 12.350, and 12.380 plus Rules 2.425 and 2.516
- A restricted workspace separating originals, holds, approved production, and proof
Check your firm’s process. This lesson teaches a safe general workflow. Your firm’s software, folder names, naming rules, retention steps, and escalation contacts may differ. If you are unsure, stop and ask your supervisor.
